Adele Ulrich, of Wayne, called the hospital on Aug. 17 saying that several bombs were going to detonate in the hospital, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said following a months-long investigation.
The hospital was placed on divert, and a shelter-in-place order was implemented, bringing police officers, firefighters, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad to the scene.
Ultimately, first responders determined that the call was a hoax, and no actual threat existed to the hospital.
As a result of the investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit determined that the caller was Ulrich, who was charged with second-degree false public alarm and scheduled for a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack on Nov. 13.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Teaneck Police Department, under the direction of Chief Andrew McGurr, for its assistance in this investigation, as well as all the agencies that responded to this incident.
